ANNUAL BABE GIRLFRIEND TRADITIONS ROCK! KEEP ONE GOING OR GET ONE GOING WHILE YOU'RE STILL FLEXIBLE!

In June Every Year (For The Past 8 Years) I Join 3 Babe Girlfriends For The Annual Seafood Festival Weekend In Belmar, N.J. I love the tradition. It's Too Much Fun. We can't see where we're going any more but who cares. Thankfully the seafood menus are in BIG letters.

Vi and Jo-Ann, my babe pals, pick me up in a Jeep and we drive from suburban N.Y to babe Edie's one bedroom apartment by the sea where two of us sleep on a blow up mattress that usually deflates for some reason in the middle of the night. Seriously.

We over -pack, over-exercise, over-eat, over-drink, over-dance, over-talk each other and basically over-do whatever we can in less than 48 hours.

Every year it gets harder to stay awake long enough to go out at night. We chug just enough coffee to be able to get out and find some good commotion and then laugh as much as possible while trying to ignore the fact our grown children are not answering our text messages.

Every year is filled with things that either almost interfere or completely interfere with our planned weekend festivities.

Last year I did not go at all as I was by my Mom's side while she battled and sadly succumbed to a horrible cancer. I have not had much fun since losing her, but I went again this year and it was therapeutic and yes - fun.

Each of us has had to miss a year for various reasons- but the tradition has held.

'Girlfriend Traditions' make you feel ageless. Though this year was the first year we noticed walking 2000 miles and doing wild inappropriate dance floor moves - makes your joints hurt.

To re-create a fun experience year after year with girlfriends you love is priceless (as are the annual outfits which require more lycra every year Ha!)

If YOU have an annual babe girlfriend tradition I know you know how wonderful it is.

If you do not have a tradition I suggest you create one asap. Really.

Look up 'Festivals'  and find one that happens annually in some city that you would enjoy visiting and build a weekend plan around it with a few babes you love.

Be a leader and start up an annual babe tradition ! Hurry while you're still flexible!

Hormonally Yours,

Debbie Nigro

That was fun to read Adrienne! Felt like we were right there with you in the fridge with the champagne! LOL

That sounds like it was soooo much fun, wow! Each year my sister Sharon and my cousin Nancy go to Martha's Vineyard for two weeks.  The first week is just us three, we go to bed when we want, wake up when we want, eat what and when we want and with who we want and don't go into the kitchen for seven days unless it's to either put champagne in the fridge or to get glasses to drink the champagne in. We go to the gym or do yoga, if we want, ride bikes, play tennis, what ever, but every night we have a nice dinner out some where new or some where tired and true.Tthe second week, all of our kids come and that is when all hell breaks loose. Our kids come over together and leave with us. We have been going to the Vineyard annually since we were kids, but this tradition began over the past ten years when we were mature enough to execute it and had husbands, current or exes, or camp or grandparents to watch the kids while we just plain relaxed! Traditions are full of joyous memories that we treasure, share and chuckle about years later. The best part is trying to remember what year, who had what outfit, crazy diet or man-friend/husband and how he fit in or didnt fit in to our lives at the time. I love traditions!
