"BUCKET LIST" Now Officially In Dictionary

Don't Know What "Bucket List" Means? Now You Can Look It Up. It’s one of several modern words and phrases now officially accepted by the Merriam-Webster College Dictionary, and will be included in the book’s latest update.  Now that it's for real, you'd better review what's still on your own 'Bucket List' and GET MOVIN ON IT.

According to The NY Post, other modern words and phrases now officially accepted by the Merriam-Webster College Dictionary that will be included in the update are:  “sexting,’’ “man cave,’’ “game changer" and 'F-Bomb'. Dropping an “F-bomb” on someone may be a nasty thing to do — but nobody will be able to fault your grammar, says the Post.

The publisher said the list offers a revealing look at US culture.

The term “underwater,’’ for example, reflects the struggle of home-owners who owe more on their mortgages than their properties are worth; while “aha moment’’ gives a nod to Oprah Winfrey’s signature phrase.

“Some of the new words this year provide colorful images,’’ said dictionary editor Peter Sokolowski.

“They show that English speakers can be very creative as they describe the world around them.’’

Other new additions include “cloud computing,” “earworm,” “energy drink,” “gassed,” “gastropub,” “mash-up” and “systemic risk.” If you don’t know what any of them mean, you can soon look them up.

Maybe in the next update the Dictionary will add the phrase 'Still A Babe' ! Definition?  A phrase when spoken to woman of a certain age evokes a smile, a state of mind, a way she would enjoy perceiving herself forever. A phrase used to compliment a woman who exudes a joyous ageless attitude in obvious defiance to her physical age.
