HOW FACEBOOK MADE ME FEEL LIKE A TEENAGER ON MY BABE BIRTHDAY

THAT WAS SOME ALL DAY LONG VIRTUAL BIRTHDAY PARTY I HAD ON FACEBOOK YESTERDAY. WOW! AND I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TO GET DRESSED FOR IT. AT SOME POINTS I WASN'T.

I had another babe birthday yesterday! Yay! This year's number is so ridiculous I can't even pronounce it. The number has absolutely nothing to do with the real me because as you all know I am 'Still A Babe', and babes are ageless and happily delusional. I have moved to a place of ...grateful to still be here and so what if I have to wear a one piece bathing suit.

Mentally I'm the same age as my niece Sydney below in this birthday shot that she BBM'd out to her crowd yesterday. Birthdays are now enhanced by technology and 'friends' across the land get involved in a day once reserved for your birthday inner circle.

Seriously, I was in awe at the number of 'pings' I kept hearing on my iPhone throughout the day yesterday, alerting me to yet another Facebook birthday greeting. I'm pretty sure I got more virtual love than 'J Lo' who has my same birthday. Sorry J Lo.

It was the first birthday that I experienced the power of Facebook with regard to the sheer number of happy messages sent my way in a one day time frame.

During my all day 'virtual' birthday party, a continuous stream of birthday greetings arrived while I was at the diner eating an egg white omelet, while sweating trying on ridiculous bathing suits in a store dressing room, while driving in my car, while visiting my Aunt and watering her plants and showing her how to use Facebook, while enjoying chicken parmigiana at my sister-in-law's house with my niece and nephews, while having margaritas at a local beach bar with my girlfriends and my daughter and pals, and finally while laying home on my couch late at night with the air conditioning on trying to thank each person individually who took the time to send a birthday greeting.

Typing a short Happy Birthday message to someone on Facebook when you see it's their special day, takes only a few seconds.

Being on the receiving end of all those "Happy Birthday" greetings over and over and over and over again throughout the entire day does really make a birthday feel like a party and an adult feel like a teenager.

It's good to feel loved on your birthday even if a load of it -  is 'virtual' love.
