Every single babe I know whose had a Keratin Hair Straightening Treatment says with a huge grin that it changed their lives!
I'm a Keratin hair straightener hold-out. Why? I don't know why. I'm a prime candidate. A life long kinky curly frizzy headed humidity misery babe. I'm surprised I haven't blown all my hair off my head by now. I did blow out all the electricity once in a crowded fancy restaurant during dinner when I left my date at the table to secretly blow out my shrinking bangs in between courses. Of course the date figured out it was me when the lights went on 20 minutes later and I was sitting there with pin straight hair. Oh well.
I come from a long line of hairdressers, the latest of whom is my 'tress superstar' daughter Alexis. (saves me a load of cash). She did the Brazilian Blowout treatment on herself and many other clients and it was awesome and I was just about to let her do it to me when the horrible health warnings came came out about the health risks of the fumes. Dilemma. At what risk straight hair now?
I have asked many in the hair business about what brand of keratin treatment still works without risking your health? There are many companies and many opinions.
So when I read that the PIONEER of Keratin Treatments Nadine Ramos was stopping in NYC on her Million Dollar Keratin Tour I took my hair star daughter and we went to hear what she had to say.
Nadine Ramos founded her company Lasio, Inc. as a response to the over saturation of unsafe chemical relaxers in the hair care industry. Lasio has been at the forefront of the Keratin Revolution since 2000 and Nadine is the reason. Nadine is all about safety first.
Nadines Ramos held an event called 'Million Dollar Keratin: Capitalizing On Keratin Services Tour" to share how she made over a million dollars her first year performing Lasio Keratin treatments , opened her her flagship salon in the East Village in NYC, and established her distribution company Lasio Inc. (She held a contest among her girlfriends to name her business and Lasio won out.) Her Tour started in NYC on 1/9/12 heads to Houston,Texas on 1/29112 and then to Los Angeles on 2/2/12.
I went to the event to see if this stuff would make my hair straight without killing me and if maybe my hairdresser daughter could learn to make a million dollars like Nadine so I could go to the beach.
Nadine took the podium in NYC and captivated me. She opened with a compelling comment. "There are 'Dream Chasers and Dream Catchers." Nadine caught a wave, straightened it and the rest is history in the making.
Nadine is my kind of 'ballsy' (forgive me but it's a compliment) entrepreneurial babe for sure. Loved everything about her. Mostly her resilience as I can relate. She spoke about sadly losing her mom when she was 21 and having to earn to care for her younger sister. How listening to an entrepreneur in her headphones on a Jet Blue flight almost catapulted her out of her seat with excitement. How she was scared but went anyway to Brazil to find out about Brazilian keratin. How she packed a few bottles of 'whatever those Brazilians were using that worked' and brought them back in her suitcase and then to a chemist to help her deconstruct the formulas. And how through lots of trial and error and patience and commitment to very high standards knew she could make her own even better version.
Apparently Nadine Ramos Founder and CEO has done just that with Lasio Inc.
While other salons offer Brazilian straightening treatments on their menus, Lasio specializes in them.
Nadine provided attendees real time instruction on a new keratin application technique that reduces the production of fumes and provided Lasio certification. She showcased her own hair care line with keratin at its core, as well as Rio De Keratin, a youth friendly do-it-yourself keratin treatment .
I listened to quite a few hair pros in attendance speak up and say with conviction that Lasio is the best of all the Keratin products they have used on clients.
My hairdresser daughter Alexis who is now Lasio Certified, is inspired to now use Lasio Keratin on her clients. One of whom will now be me. Stay tuned for the before and after! Should be a riot when you see the follicles I was born with.
Hormonally Yours,
Debbie Nigro
