STILL A BABE

"Never Retire Just Rewire!" - Dr. Ruth

Dr. Ruth Westheimer, Beloved Sex Therapist, Now an 84 Year Old Babe, Is Not Done Talking About Sex Yet! In Fact Any Minute Now You'll See Her Line Of Low Alcohol Wine On The Market Called Dr. Ruth's 'Vin Amour' Created to Relax You So You Can Have Even More Sex.

Dr. Ruth's wine, is only 6 percent alcohol while the average alcohol content of wine is about 13 percent. She explains why. "I’m always saying couples should drink to relax, but not too much. If the woman drinks too much, she falls asleep and if the man drinks too much, he can’t perform," she once told the NY Post.

Recently, when Adam Geller of the Associated Press recently showed up at Dr Ruth's House to interview the Grandmother of Sex for The Journal News, Dr. Ruth opened the door with crazy bed hair and said in her famous voice, "You don't have a photographer, so I don't comb my hair." ( Now THIS is what we mean by  "Still A Babe - it's An Attitude!")

I never knew until I read Adam's interview, that Dr. Ruth got her start on radio because a NY Radio Exec bound by law to broadcast public affairs programming needed help addressing sex education on the air. There was no mistaking her voice from that moment on.

"No one captured the imagination of the country like she did" says Pepper Scwartz a professor of sociology at the Univ. of Washington and the author of numerous books on sex and relationships. "That sort of mature whimsical voice that she had, reassuring and knowledgeable, talking to you like your fantasy grandmother really gave the country permission to have this dialogue in a new way."

So - Our generations' favorite 4 foot 7 Grandmother of Sex is still not done talking about sex. Dr. Ruth's 36th book is called 'Sexually Speaking 'What Every Woman Needs To Know About Sexual Health' and is available here on Amazon.

Dr. Ruth is also not done speaking in person.

According to the story, recently Dr. Ruth was addressing a group of female Jewish Grandmothers and widows from a small stage in Manhattan at the National Council of Jewish Women. Dr. Ruth said, "Here's what were going to do. We're going to talk about sex. Can you all say sex?"  SEX!  yelled back the rows of Grandma's.

Funny Visual!

Even funnier, when asked by that group for advice on how to find a man, Dr Ruth whose hubby died in 1997 responded, "If I knew that, at first I would take the guy for myself".  LOL

In addition to  Dr. Ruth's soon to be released line of wine, she has upcoming global speaking engagements and there's even a one woman show in the works about her life.

But her one line of advice that I just read in The Journal News, that I loved the most, I repeat for you here to remember. It was her closing interview comment..

"Never Retire Just Rewire!"

Now THAT'S some sexy advice!

Delusionally Young & Yours,

Adam Geller's Associated Press Journal News interview refreshed my memory about Dr. Ruth's tragic childhood. She fled Germany at 10 when her parents secured a spot for her on a train taking 100 Jewish children to refuge in Switzerland. Her last memory of home is seeing the faces of her Mom and grandmother slip away as the train departed . Both her parents were murdered in the holocaust and she was raised in a Swiss orphanage. She left at 17 for what was then Palestine, joining the Jewish paramilitary Haganah, and trained as a sniper.. She moved to France a few years later to study at the Sorbonne and teach kindergarten. She got to NY in the 50's and settled in upper Manhattan's enclave of German Jews. She married, had two children and earned a doctorate in the interdisciplinary study of the family. Her research tracked contraceptive usage among 2000 women.  She was also counseling - then that NY radio Exec found her to solve his radio public service needs and as they say...the rest is history.
